Until the influx of used Gillig Phantoms and new Gillig LF models from 2010 onwards, along with the Nova Bus articulateds and electrics, the Orion V provided the mainstay of the CyRide bus fleet, with 18 standee versions acquired new (and then one used from Sioux City, IA), as well as several conventional units purchased used from Madison, WI and Iowa City, IA. Nevertheless, for a long period there was unexpected diversity in an undertaking serving a population base of little more than 50,000. The list given here concentrates on the buses that have seen service in Ames over the last few years. Most of the numbers link to illustrations.
